NEED HELP REMOVING OLD PAINT

I'm trying to strip down my old Ertl Defiant I did about 10 years ago and I am having a heck of a time removing the paint. I can't remember exactly what kinds of paint were used but I can tell you that it has been repainted (without the original paint being removed. I use to be crappy at model building) and I belive that I used duck egg blue MM enamel on the outer coat because my testor's acylic dried paint solvent is having no effect on it but it did work somewhat on some of the detail paint.

I bought a brand new bottle of ELO because it always worked great in the past but I'm finding it only working on a few sections of the kit and not on others and when it does work it takes forever to "crinkle." I've got a spray bottle of Super Clean and again, it'**** and miss and it takes forever to scrub the paint off that does want to come off.

Some advice please, gang.

Hve you looked in the paint removal thread?
Also have you tried Pine-Sol? Since this particular kit has no clear parts I don't think it realy matters what you soak it in.

Here's what I have done in the past and it worked great. Dump about a quarter of your bottle of oven cleaner into a gallon of water. Place the model (and water) into a bucket and seal the bucket. LEave the thing sit, COMPLETELY submerged, for a couple of weeks. The paint will fall off like pork off ribs.

Also, save the bucket as it will become your new depainting vat.

Yes, I did but since I had tried several of the techniques and none of them were effective, I didn't want to waste my time trying any more until I found out if removing 10 year old paint was different than something newer.

I'll give that a shot, but how do you know when you've emptied a can of oven clener by 25%? This stuff comes in spray cans only, doesn't it?

Dunno. Whatever the "normal" sized bottle you get at AutoZone is. If I had to guess, I would say it is roughly a quart (32-ounces). If it's a little too weak or strong, no worries. Just leave it a little longer.

32 oz. sounds about right. I was looking at one site and it showed a gallon bottle.
