Ok, on this kit I had hand brushed a Tamiya grey close to where I did not what to AB over. I liked how the color came out, but I just AB the kit and it AB a lot lighter than the hand brushed color!
Ok, what happened here? The sad part is that I liked how the hand brushed color looks compaired to the AB (which is why I chose that color). And we all know how much fun it is to hand brush Tamiya!

The airbrush puts very fine droplets down, so you get the light-scattering effect as in matte paints. I'm not sure whether the difference will disappear beneath a bit of Future or other gloss - or matte finish, for that matter. It's worth a try.
