Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

electomagnetic floating base. anyone try?

Post by raser13 »

i don't know if this fits here or not this is the closest i could think of. if it doesn't the modrators can move it. but here it goes.my sister has one of these globes that magicaly floats withoutany suports.well a week ago it stoped working and shelet me tinker with it. ifound out that all it was was a regular magnet on top of the base,a magnet at the tp of the globe, a metal plate at the bottom of the globe, and an electromagnet at the bottom of the base. what i got to thinking was that this could be applied to one of the star treck/star wars/any spaceship models. this way you could just inbed the magnet and the metal disk into the model when building and make the electomagnet base to fit. of course this model couldn't be lit but i figured i'd ask if any one has tried this? if so ho does it look? if no ones done this i figured i'd plat the seed and see what grows.
i love it when a plan comes together
