Making your own decals

SO i saw decal sheets in a hobby store and it said something like "for use with the ....system" cant remeber what its called but cant you just use phtotoshop and a regular printer on the sheets or is there something special to use ?

I think you probably saw the refill paper for the "Testors Decal System" which is just inkjet decal paper, a clear spray fixative, and some kind of PC program with some generic images. Do a Google search for "inkjet decals" and you'll find more info than you ever want to know about printing decals with an inkjet.

The only thing worth the money in that Testor's kit is the can of fixative. The decal in the box is on half sheet. Buy your decal paper from www.micromark.com.

TangoPapa does not sell decal paper that will work with an inkjet printer-- only lasers or Alps. The inkjet decal paper sold by Micro-Mark and Bare-Metal Foil is standard letter-size, so it feeds easier into most printers and is generally a better value than the little sheets sold by Testors.

The last decal paper I ordered was from a place called Kustom Rides.
I can only comment on the Alps/laser paper, but it's been good, if a little on the thick side...the white backed paper especially. It's also pretty slow to react to both Micro-sol and Walthers decal solvent.

I've used the MicroMark and DecalPaper stuff. Both worked equally.
