Anyone tried coffee filters in airbrush cleaning station?

Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

Anyone tried coffee filters in airbrush cleaning station?

...or any other substitute material in replace of the pricey filters that go into the Aztec airbrush cleaner? I go through a lot of these, and always seem to be out of extras when I need them. I guess I'm looking for a more economical/convenient route. I've been thinking about making my own by stacking several coffee filters cut to size. The normal filters don't look too sophisticated. In fact, they look like they're made of the same material that's used in those cheap lawn & garden/construction variety respirators you buy at the hardware store.

I'd have to go buy some coffee filters next time I was at the store and was just wondering if this has already been tried before I blew my money.

i just stick a wad of "eco-wool" into my cleaning jar if that is what you mean?

"eco-wool" is a cheap from of "eco friendly" plastic wool-like fiber that is used for insulation.
