Ran across a cheap strobing LED today

Post by Joseph Osborn »

Hello, maybe some of you will find this info useful: I was in Wal-Mart this morning and found some Halloween-themed plastic tumblers that just arrived at the store. They have a very bright strobing white 5mm (or maybe slightly bigger) LED in the base of the cup that is supposed to light up your drink, but for $4.96 it's a cheap source for a ready-made strobe circuit. I've taken apart similar circuits before and I have been able to drive three or four LED's from the same little board that originally had just one LED. It might be useful for a lighting project for the more frugal among us.

Cool. I'm heading to Wally World this afternoon. I'll check it out.
