Can I use a games workshop wash directly on my Ban Dai X-wing.
I mean with out a gloss coat applied.

They are acrylic based...so should be fine. Gloss coating might make it easier to manage though, but I have not tried the their brand of paint yet.

As far as the plastic crumbling problem...that should not be an issue with those washes.

If you want it in the panel lines then yes, gloss it. But if you just want it dirty, then wash away. I would use a wide brush b/c if you tinker around with a small brush you may end up with "tide lines" and that won't be as convincing.

About what size?
I guess soft bristles would be best?

Using Citadel washes? I use a brush large enuff to fit in the jar. Soft bristles is good but you want it to be able to hold as much wash as possible.
