Drilling fiber optic

Guys, using .5 mm fiber optic for landing lights. Trying to drill holes with a .5 mm drill bit with pin vise and I keep snapping off the drill bits. Anyone have a good place to get ones that won't snap easily, or do you just buy tons of them? Thanks!

Buy tons of them. Bits breaking is a fact of life but with patience and practice, you'll get better at it.

Oh and don't get carbide ones. You don't need them for plastic and they break easier. HSS, high speed steel, is perfectly fine.

When you chuck the bit, reduce the amount of exposed bit to the bare minimum.

I don't know what brand or makeup my bits are but I drilled 249 windows into my Salzo Galactica, chucked into my Dremel, with one bit. Must be made out of vibranium or anamantium!
