Alternatives to Plastruct or Evergreen?

Post by DOMENECH1776 »

Does anyone have someplace they would look to for trusses? I can order from Plastruct, but I was wondering if there is anyone else I can source from.

Thanks, thats an option. I try to order what I can through a model train store down the road in Brunswick, NY. Only been open, not even a year, yet.

Great to hear you have a train store! They should be the ones to ask about options. Walthers has some industrial kits with trusswork- check out their Cornerstone kits for transmission lines, conveyors and "plant" kits. There are some German model train manufacturers, and at least Dapol in Britain. Your train store may have a US source for these. Germany privatized their post office and shipping small packets to the US has become expensive and paperwork intensive- so much that many sources just won't do it unless you ask nicely. Model Expo was clearing out some old stock and I got some European light poles that had a section of tapered latticework that had had some spacecraft uses. I think some Minicraft industrial buildings have some trusswork sections in them for roof trusses and walkways. And a fallback for 1950's style I-beams with lightening holes in them are Katyusha rocket launcher kits. The plus side is you can usually find someone who wants the rest of the military truck!

I order direct from Plastruct. Great to deal with and fast ship.
If they are having a sale Dick Blick Art carries a lot of Plastruct. As far as another manufacture none USA based. I got some from Europe that was nice but they are gone now.

Have they gotten better? When they were under new ownership 5 years ago, or sop...I tried ordering all kinds of stuff off the web site and they didn't have any of it. They were very hard to contact.
