I needed to make a tapered pyramid shaped nose cone about half an inch long for my contest entry. A bit small to make from sheet plastic, a bit big to carve from solid.
As usual I spent longer worrying about all the things that could go wrong than I actually did making it.
I carved the piece from balsa slightly undersized and then sheathed it in plastic card using super glue to bond it all together and fill the gaps. The result looks about right and has a nice surface for finishing. I know I'll be using this method again for building small complex shaped parts.
