Oooh, Shiny!

I picked up some of those nail polishing boards from the drug store tonight and I buffed my TOS Enterprise to a high-gloss finish without any paint. It's neat! It's almost like I haven't even touched it with sandpaper at all except in the areas where the buffing sticks won't reach.

Are there any benefits to making the plastic have such lustre prior to priming or painting?

Yes. Once you've started buffing parts shiny smooth, you'll start to notice it, (or its absence), in your older work, making you want to do them over. In other words, it's a curse.

Yes, it makes them smoother.



I too have become addicted to buffing to a nice polish. You canreally notice the difference on smaller scale models and gloss paint.
