Paint or Glue first

Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

Paint or Glue first

Post by joey_d1119 »

Hello,
I usually paint my models first. I have never painted a model that is white in the case of my newly acquired 1/350 refit. I can fill in light gaps on my other models because I can use dark color clay to fill in the gaps becuase it matches the paint. If I paint the refit first then put it together I obviously cant fill the gaps with white aves apoxy sculpt. It wont block the light.

So my question is. Should I primer the whole model in seperate pieces. Install lights and assemble the pieces. Fill in the gaps with apoxie sculpt. The begin to mask like crazy and apply the paint job to it?

Yes.

Or at least it the way I normally build. The FMMF may be an exception, but it's designed to be partially painted on the sprue and then assembled.
