MM paint color differences

Post by MillenniumFalsehood »

Okay, I got a couple of cans of MM spraypaints and made sure that the colors on the lids, wrapper, and hobby shop labels matched the color I desired. But when I got the model painted, there was a sharp contrast in colors from what I bought to what the color ended up looking like. Now, I don't mind it on the ship I finished(if for no other reason than I'm too lazy to change it.). But what if I need an exact match? how can I tell?

IIRC there's a batch number printed on the cans (label or bottom of can, canna member which) which will get you as close as possible (providing the color numbers themselves match up). But, you can still end up with color differences depending on the conditions when you paint and what colors you're painting over (and how many coats etc).

Well, it's not the colors I painted over that the problem(I painted over a darker grey and it turned out lighter than the can color).

Could be the coats or weight of the coats or could simply be a case of a bad batch. Don't know if contacting somebody over @Testors would help or not.
