Finish on RTV master

Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

Finish on RTV master

Post by PetarB »

I'm preparing an item that will be the master for an RTV mould which I need to get a smooth finish on. Not just a 'polish for a couple of minutes' smooth finish, but like glass.
Dry Future + RTV = disaster?
Any other ideas? This particular item does not have much detail on it, it's kinda like a canopy.

High build sandable primers

Post by modelnutz »

I'm partial to "Plasti-Cote's" Sandable White Primer.
It's lacquer based and dries quickly.
Very smooth when applied right.

If you need high gloss...follow up with 3-4 light coats of Future and polish, polish. polish.
