Problem with painting sacred scale windows/Problem Solved

Post by saiyagohan »

Hello I am having a problem with how to go about painting the windows already made on my 3 piece ENT C 1/2500 kit. I have tried toothpicks that someone suggested on the 2500 scale forum. I have tried a detail brush also with no success. Any Help would be appreciated. I want to paint the windows without messing up the detail I have already done to the model. The model is assembled as shown in the pic,but not glued together.

Heck no. :wink:

I've never tried to paint tiny windows, but I don't think I'd try using a toothpick. Maybe a #0 brush. (Anything smaller just holds less paint, it doesn't make a smaller dot). Are you using a magnifier? When woking on tiny details I like to use a hoodie binocular magnifier. And plenty of light.
I speak of the pompatous of plastic.

Fine point pens? I know technical pens can be filled with different types of ink (thinned paint maybe?), but are expensive and somewhat fussy to clean. There are disposable ultra-fine tip artist's pens made in different colors too; try checking art supply or craft stores.

I'll second the fine tip pens. Although, finding white is a real b&%$#! My fave are the Pigma Micron, 005 size. Aside from white and black, also get yourself a red. Good for the red marks at the ends of phaser strips, and for the docking hatches. Now that I think about it, get several colors! :D

Bandai Gundam ultra fine pens are good - black and grey for windows etc.

For other colours I use technical drawing pens

I've used cocktail sticks to add the eyes on small scale figures.
There is no such word as "casted" or "recasted". The past tense of "cast" is still "cast". Only bisexually hermaphrodites add the "ed". - Churchill August 1942.

"Lose" = Mislay/Fail to win.
"Loose" = Slack/Not tight - John Lennon June 81

I soleved this today,I went to Michaels to see if they had anything new,and I found it,a paint marker but like none I have ever seen before. This one has an extra fine tip on it. It is made by DecoColor and it is Opaque White. I have included and image of it,and the model I am working on at present which is an ENT C from the 3 piece set.

Here is the marker:

No,I don't. But I will tell you it is the same as a Sharpie ultra fine point marker. I hope that helps. It is very small and works great on smaller windows.
