Parts don't fit together

Got a question about techniques, materials or other aspects of physically building a model? This is the place to ask.

Parts don't fit together

Post by Obsidian »

Hi, new here and a relatively new modeler, I have finished a Star Wars shuttle Tydirium and a Ferrari.

Currently I'm working on a 12" X-Wing model manufactured by Etrl. I've run into a problem with the fuselage not fitting together, the bottom half looks to be wider than the top and I'm looking for ideas on how to modify them to fit.

See picture:

Thanks.

There is nothing wrong. The "step" is indeed supposed to be there.
If you're referring to the gap -- have you tried trimming the alignment pins off so you can better align the parts?

Uh-yup. Step is in the design. You may need to lay some sheet styrene to cover the gap but the difference in width is supposed to be there.

Oh... so it does. I'll look into getting some sheet styrene or perhaps some putty.
