Markers That Don't Bleed Through Primer

Post by Wug »

Hi,

I'm looking for fine point and medium point markers to mark bare plastic and primed plastic. I don't want a marker that will bleed through primer or paint.

I thought I used black Sharpies in the past. However, the last time I used one it bled through multiple coats of Mr. Surfacer. Maybe I spooged the ink on too thick. Maybe the markers that didn't cause troubles weren't Sharpies.

One of the modelers in Alcorn's The Master Scratch Builders recommends red markers but he doesn't mention the brand.

Thanks,

Mike

I use Sakura IDenti Pen and MicroPerm. Neither have ever bled through a coat or primer or even Tamiya acrylics.

Hi Kylwell,

Can I buy these locally? Yesterday I tried Michaels with no luck.

Thanks,

Mike

Should be able to. The microperm is usually in the art supplies while the IDentiPen is with stationary IIRC.

If it helps, here's what they look like:

Try Office Depot where they have either the extensive pen aisle or the aisle with the Prismacolor markers if you don't have any luck otherwise.

Thanks Everyone,

The local Michaels had a single type (I can't remember the name) of Sakura sets in art supplies and Micron Pigmas in stationary/scrap booking.

Thanks,

Mike
