Re: Vallejo Plastic Putty
I don't understand how they can claim the results as "ultra accurate," which is said multiple times. I can understand "looks great" and "convincing," but "ultra accurate?" Especially when working with different scales. Either way, I need some of this! Can't b...

Vallejo Plastic Putty
With this product people seem to love it or hate it. I'm in the love column.
Maybe they have been getting complaints, but anyway, they just released a video on how to use it.
Maybe it could save a few tubes from being tossed in the trash...

Re: using "bluestuff" for first time
Once I got the hang of it, I love it. The only problem I encountered is when I used it with Aves, the Aves never really hardened. I reported it to them and they were baffled. So now I just used the regular Greenstuff. Plasmo's video IS a great reference. Never tried pouring resin into the Bluestuff....

Complimentary colors + white = gray !?
Yep.
The demo uses oils, but I'm sure it's gotta work with other paints -

Lightening without using white
There's a pretty nice series of Windsor and Newton how-to's. It's not about models, but techniques. This one is how to lighten a color w/o using white. They're using oils but it could easily be done with acrylics with some drying retarder... Anyway, HTH http://www.winsornewton.com/na/masterclass-vid...

There's also a channel on You Tube called Quick Kits. The guy uses nothing but brushes.

Re: Need help in duplicating wood finish!!
I have a simple way of making something look like wood. First I take the part and run it with a sandpaper in just one direction. This will simulate the wood grain. You don't have to go perfectly straight. just look at some real wood grain and mimic the movement. Then I use Vallejo's GoldBrown (pos#1...

Flory's Models has a You Tube video on it. It works terrific. But they say for whatever reason that cutting up Sheet styrene makes a "better" filler than just chopping up sprue.

Re: Wash
Can I use a games workshop wash directly on my Ban Dai X-wing. I mean with out a gloss coat applied. If you want it in the panel lines then yes, gloss it. But if you just want it dirty, then wash away. I would use a wide brush b/c if you tinker around with a small brush you may end up with "ti...

I just purchased the 3 pack (black, white, gray) thru Amazon. It arrived Saturday. Looking thru all the You Tube modeling vids, both for regular models and minis, I've yet to find anyone giving it a thumbs down That's the reason I bought. I may start a new kit this week and will gladly give my opini...

Translating a paint guide?
I hope this is in the right place. I picked up the Bentenmaru kit from Hasagawa at the SSM store. Looking thru it I saw an RLM color in what assume is the paint guide, but the rest of it is a guess. Can anyone translate this for me? https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IGh1k4Cd2Nk/Vru4NN29wLI/AAAAAAAABac/XAnB...

Portable Paint booth Help
Hey guys, about a year ago there was a thread in a different forum about a portable spray booth. Looks like this - http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51UZcN0YCdL._SY300_.jpg The # is MASB420DCK The story is I bought one, and then had to pack all my hobby room for a move to a different part of the...

I'd work hard on fading - UV is hell. Think of dust wear, too, though I would avoid shiny, myself. Subtlety is going to be the important factor. Agreed. Think of scale. What looks like a little smudge to you could be a smudge that's 100 scale ft. long on the model. Re: micro meteorites - they look ...
