Re: Anyone else have problems with Vallejo?

I've switched to using Vallejo Model and Model Air and for the most part, I have found white being the most pain in the butt to use. If you are thinning it down, make sure to use Vallejo's airbrush thinner as I have found that works (at least for me) when it comes to brush painting, but it will take...

Re: Using Vallejo Glaze to hand paint over overspray and underbleed

I actually completed the sections that I needed to work on. Oddly enough, I was able to get it thinned with water perfectly fine this time. Last time it didn't work.. so go figure. Only one section had to be remasked and airbrushed. So I will call this a lesson learned for the next go around. The gl...

Using Vallejo Glaze to hand paint over overspray and underbleed

I figured I would ask the question here. I have some sections of my Defiant model where there was some slight over spray and bleed under from the airbrushing. I would like to use the fix those areas by hand painting with Vallejo colors mixed with Vallejo glaze. I've tried it on section before and it...

Re: Alternative to soldering wires for lighting

I have a pretty good soldering iron. Just recall awhile ago that I saw a video on using t shape style connectors for connecting wires without soldering. As with all things, I can no longer find the video/article. So I figured that some of the people on here who do more lighting work then I do may kn...

Alternative to soldering wires for lighting

I was wondering if there is an alternative to soldering wires when lighting a model? I've seen that there are wire connectors (T shape) and wondered if this a viable option or waste?

Guess I am such a stickler for the process I am using that using the primer for the color is still a stretch. :-k

Re: Primer as a basecoat

Good to go then. Going to use the black primer for the black on a USS Gato for the black part of the hull. no need to make it too complicated. The model was complicated enough.

Re: Primer as a basecoat

Figured it was a silly question but had to ask. Making the hull of the sub black and figured no sense in driving myself crazy if the primer is also black to go with that also.

Primer as a basecoat

Has anyone used the primer for the build as basecoat? Current working on a USS Gato and I am tempted to keep the black primer I used as the basecoat for part of the finish. Also, I noticed that Vallejo's paint set has the Light gray listed as primer also. Just wanted to see what others have done.

Re: Vallejo durability on primer?

Just a little bit of an add on. I just completed a build in which I used Vallejo's gloss black primer and various grays. I've had no problem with the paint scratching off, but I did go about a week between coats at the most. The last step was a couple of coats of Future. Thus far, no issues (other t...

Vallejo equivalent for Pale Metallic Blue

I am assuming this might be a long shot. Somewhere down the line I am going to build my two BSG Viper MKVII and MKVIIE. Since the main color is Pale Metallic Blue from Testors, I am finding it is not available online. Has anyone found an equivalent for the color with Vallejo Model Air or another acr...

I see they worked better with a wet applicator when used on a scrap piece of plastic. Almost at a point where I will be using this set on my first build. Have to spray the Glosscote next.

How best to use Tamiya's Weather Set D

Has anyone used any of Tamiya's weathering sets? I've picked up this set and I experimented just a little on a scrap piece of plastic. I must be doing something wrong, because using the provided applicator I am seeing nothing. is this a product best used with water, mineral spirits or what?

have that article right next to the bench and I just picked up some new brushes from Michaels. I figured it was the quality of the brushes and I would need to thin out the paint. More often then not though, I am usually wrong on my assessment, so I figured it would be safer to ask on here. :)

Bursh painting with Model Master Acryl's

Has anyone had any success with brush painting Model Master Acryl's? I am seeing good coverage, but I am noticing I am still getting streaks. I am attempting to finish up a model and I am thinking of using black krylon primer for the model then basecoat with a light gray (to be determined in the future). Has anyone expereinced any issues with this primer or any success with using black as primer and then something light over it?
