alclad rubbing off
I'm looking to use Alclad Polished Aluminum or Alclad Chrome for Plastic on a project. How tough is an alclad finish? I've read somewhere that the finish can be rubbed off over time and seems best used of exteriors that will be covered or protected and not physically handled. Thanks in advance . . .

Future Floor Wax
Is airbrushing Future Floor Wax still a good choice for adding a gloss finish or for making scratches on transparent pieces disappear?
I had read a while back that the formula had changed and now it tends to yellow over time.

Motion activated LEDs
Anyone know where to pick up motion activated LEDs. They would be for a Blade Runner blaster prop. When I pick up the prop, the LED would turn on. Or, that's the plan.

Black acrylic or plexiglass for obolisk
Looking to buy a 11" long, 4" wide and 1" thick piece of black acrylic or plexiglass for a 2001: A Space Odyssey diorama I'm considering.
Can't seem to find a source. Anyone know of one?
Thanks.

I've done it with Tamiya Semi Gloss Black. Wear rubber gloves and find an open backyard because it can get messy. Aim the nozzle pointing down toward the side of the interior of the jar, not directly at the bottom, so as to avoid the 'Vesuvius Effect'. And go slow. After you have the amount you need...

TOS Turbo Lift grill shadow
Still working on my 3 ft. wide scratch build of the TOS Enterprise bridge. I'm at the point now where I have to figure out how to display the grill shadow that is cast onto the bulkhead and turbolift doors. I have a grill inserted in the model that's made from brass etching, and although it isn't th...

Walthers Choppy/Deep Water Clear might be the winner.
And I can't find the Tamiya pattern in the link.
Here is another view of it:

TOS bridge overhead light pattern
I'm looking for a way to re-create the squiggly glass pattern for the overhead lamps on the Star Trek TOS bridge. The bridge model I'm making these for is about 3 feet in diameter. I thought about spraying transparent plastic with a dull coat, then when dry, lightly airbrush paint thinner over it. I...

You could decant it from the spray bottle into a larger jar to reduce mess. Then transfer to your airbrush jar. I have a gravity feed brush, so this is how I have to do it... Yeah, you may lose a little paint in the transfer, but it would make it less messy. That'll be the way I go next time. Thanks.

Tried it with Rustoleum Orange and it worked like a champ. No thinning, but it was messy getting the paint from the can to the airbrush bottle. I filled it outside and without the straw. I found the straw made things messier. What I did find was that as the airbrush bottle gets fuller, the aersol fr...

There is no Tamiya Primer to be found anywhere. I'm hearing it has been discontinued. The best primer on the planet and they discontinue it.
What? It didn't sell?
Has anyone heard anything about this?

Says for opaque paints, they'll need to be thinned at about 30%.

From spray can to airbrush bottle
Anyone know if it's possible to transfer paint from a spray paint can, to an airbrush bottle and use that same spray can paint effectively through an airbrush.
Reason being, I've found the color I want in a spray can, but I want greater and more precise control that an airbrush offers.

Glue that dries transparent.
Anyone know what is the best glue they've found that 1) Dries transparent as in NO DULLNESS, and 2) Does NOT shrink after it dries. I'm trying to come up with ways to make the buttons on the consoles of the ST TOS bridge. I want to push some glue underneath the plastic console panel that has holes d...
