Re: Air Compressors

Vetter, how low does it go? I have found that a lot of compressors don't drop bellow 20 psi.

RPM or CFM?

When choosing a fan for making an spray booth, which is more important... the RPM or CFM rating? I have been told that if the fan has a higher RPM rating that it doesn't matter what the CFM is. Example. A fan has a RPM rating of 2550 but a CFM rating of 190; the other fan has a RPM rating of 1550 bu...

Re: Gloss & Dull coats

Are you shooting this at 10, 15 PSI? Not sure what you mean by shooting it at your regular pressure?

Re: Gloss & Dull coats

So I picked up a bottle of Testor's Dullcote Top Coat (1160X). My question is what would you cut this with to shoot it thru an air brush and at what PSI?

Thanks

Re: Air Compressors

Seeing that these post are close to 5 years old, I figure that things have changed and would like to know what compressors everyone is using these days? I would like to find something quiet but with a tank.

I would say that once you given the oils P L E N T Y of time to dry (to me, like a week) I would just lightly spray them to seal them and you should be fine. That is how I had done it.

Maybe... for a primer, if you can't find something like Krylon (in a can, which is basically acrylic) I would just spray a base coat of an acrylic paint and go from there.

Thanks Kenny, you have the same info as I have.

I think I'll just reach out to badger and see what I get for a response.

Whatever I get, I'll post it here.

sometimes, if you do the above (minus the long soaking time) is to lightly sand the part will also help with primer attaching better.

Sotar 20 20 question

I have one, still in the box with all the directions. There are two needles in the kit; both with black end caps. Nowhere can I find out what the needle size is.

Any thoughts?

Are these units any good? The reviews on these are mixed. Sounds like its a nit or miss if you get one that works more than a month. Right now I am in the middle of building one, but questioning the blowers ability to move the vapors.

I've heard to use it full strength. But depending on the resin (if it is soft) I would maybe cut it a little with water.

Using canopy glue I can see for smaller windows... I do like that idea, but I will be ordering some of that dental acrylic. I believe that Steve, from Steve Neills Garage also used it for his Klingon build.

Once a year, there is this huge auto swap meet where I pick up wet/dry 600 on up to 2000 for roughly $15 for a package of 50. As you can guess, they are selling it to people who do body work.

So, check out those auto meets and see what you can find.

Need a little more info... like what kind of AB and what have you been spraying with it? Also, how have you been cleaning it (taking it apart, windex, etc.).
