Re: why i am trying to help and my cautionary tale

Mods are offering nothing because it's private. If the site owners wants ya'll to know he'll let you know. One of the biggest issues, tho', is that the architecture this forum is built on is obsolete and moving it would be neigh impossible or at least extremely tedious. Meanwhile we're open to expl...

Even if it was hacked there has been sufficient time to regain control or at very least post info about it on any of the subforums.

It has been five months like this

For the alternate site, I can't seem to get past the USS Defiant question... I always called it the Tick. Noth8ng says you need to like every trek ship design, personally I think the Defiant looks like a shampoo bottle but I just focus on sharing what I know/like and not rain on anybodies parade...

Re: my offer

My biggest concern is not that this site is working (barely) but for how long . Hosting services want to be paid and if that is not done in a timely manner then this place goes dark and all resources are gone. I am planning on spending some time on this weekend harvesting everything I can just to be...

Re: my offer

Thank you for your kind offer

With this forum running on auto pilot, the hosting site will be expecting payment soon, if that does not happen everything will be gone forever.

If there are any references or archives members here might want I would strongly suggest you begin downloading them

Agreed
So few posts now there is no reason to remove older ones to save server space

I think if none were to be removed for six months it would still be less that the total of what would active for one week on this forum in it's heyday

Re: What happened to Shapeways?

It's a bit of a mess- Shapeways has essentially shut down but while some heard about it, many people with extensive catalogs of products being sold there were told nothing. I got in contact with TonyRR and he is going to be printing his stuff himself so his offerings are still available but turn aro...

Use this link to eliminate the 500 error. the SQL error is still there. It works for me and makes it so much easier.

Quite frankly I do not expect this sight to be around much longer- it is 90% broken and no help in sight. I am posting this to provide my friends here a way of contacting me outside SSM- I do not think PM system is a viable option any more. Below is my personal email address RBaker2164@GMail.com I h...

Re: Wave 1/24 Nemo's Car Model Kit The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen; how to modify the kit?

How to separate the hood from the body depends on how the kit was produced- it may be solid resin in that area so aside from removing the hood section and vac-forming a replacement to show it hood up you may have to wait for the kit to arrive before making plans. Assuming you can open up the engine ...

Re: What is "scale color", i.e. painting to reflect not full sized object

My general rule of thumb is to desaturate the colors used- atmospheric perspective does this with distance and we are accustomed to it. Desaturation is due to the particulates in the air so to make something small and close look like a big thing in the distance you need to 'add particulates' (add wh...

Re: Forum extra glitchy of late?

I believe it was my comment about 1941 and it was a system glitch of some kind- I hit post and it resulted in an error code and did not post. When it did finally post I saw only one. Be it either on my tablet (droid 14) or computer (Win 11) about a quarter of time either the pages do not load or the...

Re: DIORAMAS you would like to build

For about ten years now I've wanted to build a StarGate Diorama in 1/35th scale. A Gate would be in the center of the dio side on, on one side we see the team running up the steps to the wormhole being chased by Velociraptors, close on their heals. On the other side of the gate the first team membe...

Re: Alternative to soldering wires for lighting

Never used it with a commissioned build but I had success for many years just wrapping the two wires together, not elegant but there is no stress on them inside the model.
In around 40 lighted models I only had two have any sort of issue and those only lost one of the lights...

I can see this product being a good solution in very specific cases- those where it would be impossible of undesirable to have a wired LED connection. One such use could be if someone was trying to build a ship from that new Federation Starship design with separated nacelles in a display. Use a coup...
