So what are the options on putty to use with resin kits? I know Aves Apoxie works, since that's what I've been using. Auto Body Filler (Bondo) works as well? Are there any other options as far as resin putty? CA (superglue) glue works. I haven't tried it but I also heard packing voids/airbubbles wit...

Resin Shrinkage
I was wondering, when designing a master for a resin kit, is it necessary to build the original slightly larger than the ship should be in order to counteract resin shrinkage? Also, on a related note, if one were to make a kit of something that has multiples of the same part, would it be ok to make ...

When I am planning to build something the first thing I do is find out the full size length of the ship. I'll use the Type 6 (main shuttle used in the next generation) as an example. I looked this shuttle up on http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org which lists the type 6 shuttle at exactly 6 meters in l...

Badger Patriot a good choice?
I've been meaning to get a decent airbrush for a while now. Dual action, gravity feed. I'd like to get something nice, so I won't have to replace it later, hopefully in the $75-$150 range. I think I've decided on a Badger 105 over the 360 because the gravity feed paint cup is a bit small on the 360,...

Painting windows white?
I was wondering what the best method of painting the tiny 1:1400 and 1:2500 windows is? I have heard of people using pencil or pens to paint them black but are there any precision pens with white or light blue ink?

Different primers
I just finished laying down the last of severl coats of grey kyrlon primer on a 1:2500 Enterprise C and was planning to switch to white primer before I brush on an acrylic base coat. My question is; will I have any problems switching from krylon to testor's model master white primer? Would it be bet...

Starfleet Hull Colors
I've been experimenting with different paint mixes for my TNG era starfleet ships. I had been using MM Light Ghost Grey for my Galaxy class but recently I've felt that it's a bit too dark so what I decided to do was repaint one of my 1/2500 Galaxy classes in a mixture of Duck Egg Blue mixed with a f...

Wait time between coats
I was wondering how long you should wait in between separate coats of spray paint on a model. I just sprayed Osh Hardware flat black onto my Millennium Falcon kit and am going to spray Testor's Camouflage Gray over that and I just wanted to know whats the minimum you can wait and is there any ideal ...

Use what looks best to you, if you don't like it you can always strip it with EZ Off.
This thread details the stripping procedure well if it comes to that http://www.starshipmodeler.net/talk/vie ... hp?t=34182

Been a while since you asked, did you get anything going on that? I'd say give it a shot, if it doesn't work out you can just strip it with EZ Off and start over. I'm learning that nothing in this hobby (or many others) really goes right the first time around, you have to screw stuff up and learn fr...

is this the right stuff for gloss coating?
I just bought a bottle of this that says Clean Scent on it, not sure if that will affect the finish.

Decal pronunciation
I've seen two videos recently where the builders are pronouncing the word 'decal' different than how I learned it as a kid, just wondering how you all pronounce this word. Do you pronounce it Dee-Cal or Deck-ull?
