this thread makes me think of our little group here is a bit like Whoville shouting "We are here! We are here! We are here!"

Re: Purging and Deletion of Topics/Threads (Necessary?)

Re: 500 Error

Actually ignore this post. It seemed that clicking on "Board Index" rather than "Home" resolved the insecure connection issue (http vs https) that seems tied to the 500 error. Curiously when doing this very post I noticed that I didn't have a secure lock icon on the URL bar, impl...

Re: ATTN! the forum IS broken - NEEDS FIX

That is indeed strange. I was pretty sure that most current browsers implement https by default and only do the old http if allowed by the user in settings or a dialog box. The "s" is for "secure" which encrypts the request and reply info. Otherwise, it shouldn't be much differen...

Re: What is "scale color", i.e. painting to reflect not full sized object

This post sort of duplicates a post I made on the Galactica threads, but this thread is permanent and BSG's isn't. Moreover I think it is on point. The refs for SF hardware often look darker than their appearance on film or TV. On the other hand, I think this image which appears to be from the model...

Re: Not just xtra glitchy but pretty broken - NEEDS FIX

This near impossible. The current server error makes it very difficult to read or post. I don't dare try posting more than once on the possibility of double or triple posting. I finally got my facebook account to work and applied for the SM forum to see if I can get any notice of what's going on her...

Re: What is "scale color", i.e. painting to reflect not full sized object

In general the scale color effect is lightening a modelss colors and sometimes reducing the contrast between the colors to make the model look the way it does in tis natural environment. Not everyone believes that the scale color effect is real. David Parker explains why he thinks it's wrong here: ...

Re: What is "scale color", i.e. painting to reflect not full sized object

The only think paint-wise that I was pretty clear as a direct part of "scale" was the usage of gloss finishes. A high gloss finish automatically indicates miniature given the scale aspect of a gloss finish or any highly reflective finish. In RL, a gloss finish is surprisingly reflective, b...

Re: Are PMs working?...apparently yes, with SQL issues still

Whenever someone on here quotes anyone we always get a notification next to the private messages marker but this time I got none even though you quoted me, something new perhaps. That seems to be one of the symptoms of the general SQL problem. Given the odd things going on with some PMs I sent, I w...

Re: Wave 1/24 Nemo's Car Model Kit The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen; how to modify the kit?

How to separate the hood from the body depends on how the kit was produced- it may be solid resin in that area so aside from removing the hood section and vac-forming a replacement to show it hood up you may have to wait for the kit to arrive before making plans. I'd keep in mind that it's not a &q...

Are PMs working?...apparently yes, with SQL issues still

I'm beginning to suspect that personal messages on the forum don't work. I've PM'd one zero twice, and both times I got a similar sql error message. Curiously I have no record of this in my "sent" message list. I noticed another thread where someone asked for a PM, then posted they were no...

What is "scale color", i.e. painting to reflect not full sized object

Because there is a paint brand called "ScaleColor" and scale color can reflect color families, I'm having a lot of trouble looking up web pages on shifting colors to better reflect the appearance of a subject when done at a different size - namely much smaller. It seems like a bit of a sil...

Re: Forum extra glitchy of late?

Could it be that this is just an outdated version of phpBB? I can't seem to find a definitive version number running, but the FAQ refers to running version as 2.X. The current version sb 3.3.x. Then again, it could just be that the FAQ's text hasn't been updated :-k Other than that I can only think ...
