Updates...
Since my last post, I've done some research about lighting models, and my lighting system will be a combination of fiber optics and LEDs. As you said, I will use some bright LEDs for the two main hulls. I will cut out some of the windows and fill them with CLEAR PARTS CEMENT AND WINDOW MAKER from Te...

Best size of fiber optic for Revell/Monogram Voyager 1/677
What would be the best size of fiber optic to light up the Revell/Monogram Star Trek Voyager 1/677 model ? I plan to illuminate the nacelles, all the clear windows included with the model, and I also plan to cut off some of the smaller windows to illuminate them as well.
Any advice ??

Dry time... waiting time between coats, curing time...
When airbrushing Future in fine mists how long should I wait before applying second and third coats? Will 30 minutes do? Hour in between coats? Several days? I'm up to the point of applying decals and finish details on a SnowSpeeder and was wondering what sort of time frame I'm looking at. Also, ho...

Water for decals...
Is it OK to use regular water from the faucet (tap) to soak the decals ??
Some people are talking about distilled water for thinning acrylic paints, but also to avoid any silvering or bad reaction to setting solutions (decals turning brownish).

I want the nacelles to look as though they're illuminated. I was thinking about painting the back of the clear parts with a coat of transparent blue (or transparent red for the impulse engines) and then a coat of silver. What do you think about it ?? And what about the little green and red lights ??...

Adapt my airbrush to my air hose
I just bought a Paasche compressor and a "Badger Heavy-Duty Braided Air Hose 50-2011". I connect my air hose (biggest end) to the compressor, but I can't connect my A370 Aztek Airbrush to the other end of the air hose (smallest end), it doesn't fit. Which fitting should I use to connect my...

The best way to paint clear parts...
I have the same problem for many Star Trek models. How should I paint the clear parts ??? I could take the clear parts of the warp nacelles (blue part) for example. Note that I will not put lights on the models. Should I paint the parts from the back ??? First a clear blue coat, and then a white or ...

Air compressor, need advice about this PAASCHE model
I'm looking for my first compressor. I already have a Testor airbrush (I know it's not the best of airbrush, but I'm a beginner) but it's double-action with internal mix. Looking in my area (don't want to order online, shippping cost too high), I've found a hobby shop with a Paasche DA300 Air compre...

Re: Anyone ever used Future as setting solution ??
Before applying my decals, I will put a coat of Future and let it dry. Then, after soaking my decal in water, just before to put it to my enterprise model, apply a fine coat of Future and then put the decal over it. As has been said, if the surface isn't too convoluted, it's actually a fantastic wa...

Setting solution
Thank you Apollo Adama. If I understand correctly, as long as the surface is too irregular, I can use Future or water to help the decals conform to the surface. But if there is some irregularities, like panneling lines, a setting solution would be better. By the way, is it absolutely necessary to ap...
