Filling model rocket cardboard tube spirals
What can I fill the spiral seams of a wound cardboard tube like those of model rockets? I doubt I can slap on putty as usual with plastic then sand under running water till smooth.

It's been decades Since I did a rocket, but I would suggest sanding sealer applied with a brush in the groove and light sanding.
Too much LDS

Rough tube like shipping tube/paper towel roll or glassine coated as in a regular rocket B/T?

It's the rocket body tubes in the new (reissued) Estes Saturn V kit. I haven't tried sanding sealer in years. I was thinking white glue but that might not be smooth and it wouldn't sand. Not being one to wait, I've already given the service module enough coats of silver to mostly fill in the seams on it. But that doesn't seem like a solution for the large Saturn stages.
