resin on resin? will it stick

Ok, i'm starting building a long resin model 40 inches more or less and the cast is really thin. i want to add extra strength so i thought of adding a strip of steel to give it additionnal support along the length and then use that to make a foot to hold the model. now the question is, if i place th...

Sorry, no Each voltage source must have it's own, individual ground - else the power sources get confused and blown-circuits or leaky batteries result Why would you want to ground to the brass rod anyway - it's only one more wire per source to ground back to the battery/wall-wart well there are a f...

both options works good depending on what you want and space available. i would also go with the white paint in this case as the aluminum foil be cause the same problem if it's too shiny.

Maybe it would be helpful to describe the process of stringing these fiber optics (can you tell this is my first fiber optics project!?!). Say I've got a star destroyer and I'm stringing all 50 fiber optics as "windows". Would it be inappropriate to: 1) String the fiber with a little bit ...

White glue seems like it wouldn't hold very well. Do you think it is sufficient? tried both and i prefer the testor clear cement as when it dry out it remain in a rubber like state for a while so if you not happy wit the result, you can just pull it out and redo it. after a few days, it completely ...

I do a lot of fiber optics. Hot glue and CA( like tamiya and insta-cure) are an absolute no go, they melt the fiber right away. White glue and testor clear part cement are my recommended choice.

Thanks all for the coment but i'm about to give up on this combination. I've tried everything mentionned above but nothing will give me good results( heating the mold, more hardener, less hardener, 48 hours to cure ... ). i still get uncured resin on the surface that is in direct contact with the mo...

well, i just pulled the pieces i made yesterday and surprise!, uncured resin left in the mold, i'll clean it up tomorow when it has dried out a bit. The "core" of the piece is fully cured so it seems that i have a problem mainly from the mold taking out the heat of the curing process. Next...

Resin mixing - hardener question

Hi, this seem to be a simple question and certainly hope the answer will be simple. i've bought a new sort of clear resin because the store doesn't carry the one i used to use. The amount of hardener to be added depends on the thickness of the part to be cast. What would happend if i put more harden...

Scotch tape all the way!! had a few spillage if not firmely pressed against the model... As for resin, i really like the Envirotex lite, it's still soft after 24 hours and can be removed more or less easely with a sharp knife.
