BTW, my decals now have Future sprayed on top to seal them.
Should I first spray a light coat of flat clear over the decals before I spray on the thinned base color?

Blending(toning down) decals contrast???
Does anyone have a technique(s) for blending/toning down decals? For instance, dark gray or black decals on a white model can be too much of a contrast and even look out of scale. In the past I've used white pastel chalk dusted over the decals and then a flat clear coat, however that requires repeat...

Testors acrylic clear paint staying soft...
Has anyone had problems with Testors acrylic clear not fully curing? Sometimes when I spray Testors acrylic clear it stays soft. I've had this happen with both Testors Acryl clear and Testors CreateFX acrylic clear. I'm using Testors Universal Acrylic thinner. If I use 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to thin ...

I tested 91% Isopropyl Alcohol on the Tamiya Fine Surface Primer and it worked nicely. I had used Super Clean a while ago to remove paint and it did not remove the Tamiya primer. Super Clean is also toxic. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol is definitely the way to go. The smell isn't bad at all and it goes away...

Has anyone used Testors CreatFX acrylic clear?
On Testors site it says CreatFX acrylic paints are to be thinned with Testors Universal acrylic thinner, the same used for MM Acryl. Has anyone used CreatFX clear? Is it like MM Acryl or Polly Scale acrylic clear. I've found that Testors MM Acryl clear tends to have a slight tint to it. Polly Scale ...

Testors AZTEK acrylic paint?
Has anyone used Testors AZTEK acrylic paint on a model? Is it good or anything like MM Acryl?
I mainly use Testors Acryl but they no longer make copper Acryl. Testors does have AZTEK acrylic Copper. Maybe I'll try it unless it's no good.

Best solvent for use on Round 2 decals???
The decals Round 2 provides with their kits are quite thick and don't seem to respond to the setting solutions and solvents well. I've used both Microscale's Micro Sol and Walther's Solvaset and neither will make the clear film disappear. Does anyone have any suggestions when applying Round 2's deca...

Have you heard of Tamiya's Mark Fit Strong? I understand that it is designed for tough decals like that. I just realized that I have Testors Decal Bonder. I've used it to keep brittle decals intact. Even fairly new decals. I built a Tamiya car model and the decals for that were extremely brittle. I...

Testors Decal Bonder...
I've heard that Testors Decal Bonder can be sprayed over decals after they are applied onto a model to seal them and hide the decal film edges. Does this work? In the past I've sprayed Future over the decals after they are applied on a model and still see the edges. I've had to use micro mesh polish...

I've never met an acrylic paint that can withstand ammonia based Windex. Testors MM Acryl and Polly Scale acylic paints can! Tamiya acrylics just wash right off with Windex but Testors Acryl and Polly Scale stand right up to it and don't budge. Are you sure you're using Windex with ammonia? It's wh...

Flat clear for using over Tamiya acrylics?
I usually use Testors Acryl Flat Clear(with some semi-gloss mixed in) to seal the weathering and decals.
Is there a better (flat) clear to use over Tamiya acrylic paints?
I do prefer using acrylic clears since they don't yellow the way lacquers do?

Can Microscale Flat be sprayed through an airbrush? How does it hold up, after it's cured, to Windex? Usually acrylics that won't budge when Windex is sprayed on them are very tough.Lord Darth Beavis wrote:Future with Tamiya flat base, or Microscale flat. I am partial to the Microscale option. It lays down dead flat.

Devcon EPOXY vs. Gorilla Glue EPOXY???
Does anyone know which one of these, Devcon or Gorilla Glue Epoxy, is better for using on styrene kits?
I've used Devcon 5 Minute Epoxy in the past but am wondering if Gorilla Glue Epoxy is better.

Has anyone here used Talon Series Acrylics? Are they available in the US? I hate to tell you but Hawkeye Hobbies, owner of the Talon metalizer series, is no longer in business and so far no one has picked any of their lines up. That's too bad. Metalizer acrylics would have been nice to use. BTW, ho...
