Mass Effect SR2 Normandy - building the fuselage ideas?

Post by Sluis Van Shipyards »

Here's the ship if you have no idea what I'm talking about: http://i.imgur.com/MapjBih.png

I'm just throwing ideas around on how to build this and the only part that would give me trouble is the main fuselage. I don't have vacuuforming equipment so I would probably have to go with the bulkhead and skin method. The thing I see a problem with is that the fuselage is curved in two directions, forward-backward, and side to side. Any tips on the best way to go about it? I'm thinking of anywhere between an 18"-24" long model. I have no idea what scale that would be yet.

Don't know but I thought I seen a model of it somewhere and a quick google search turned up the model on a website called entertainmentearth.com but that model is a prepainted statue of the sr2 about 6 inches long so pretty small compared to what you want. It's a cool design.

You could carve it out of foam or Renshape.
I speak of the pompatous of plastic.

Check Deviant Art for Thunderchilds' SR's. They're card models, but designed as a formers/skeleton/bulkhead and skin build.
Just do it in styrene.
This IS my sig.

Thanks! That is a big help as far as seeing how someone else went about building it.

There's a 24" paper model that has bulkheads and skins that I'm working on. I could email it to you if you'd like, as it has not only a complete skeleton, but a reasonably well-fitting skin that has layers with thickness callouts in millimeters.
