Re: Who's going?

I'm sitting out this year. My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary and went to Jamaica for 8 days. That pretty much killed the vacation budget for the year.

Re: Wonderfest 2023

Well, the show officially starts in 48 days (June 10).

I'll be arriving in Louisville on the 7th, to enjoy a couple days in the area as friends arrive.

Looking for a simple two-bulb setup

I'm looking for a self-contained LED unit that has two bulbs. Ideally, it would be able to have one bulb on for a few seconds, then turn it off and turn on the other one. I don't really have space for a controller board, and I still need to fit the power supply (battery would be best). Can anyone re...

Re: Mark Yungblut Has Passed

It wasn't WonderFest until I could sit down and chat with him for a few minutes, or just sit back and listen to him talk about one of his latest builds.

Godspeed, Mark, and I'll see you on the other side someday.

Decal woes

Is anybody having issues with aftermarket decals purchased within the past 6-8 months from Federation Models? I was working on a couple of entries for WF that have now been consigned to the trash bin. I was using the Gizmotron 1:2500 starship decals. They came off the backing paper after being dippe...

Re: Russian spammers

I know how much folks wanted the update here on the website (and I do like the new format), but the old version of the site never had these issues. At least, I don't recall them ever being this widespread.

I stopped by last week to see what was going on, but I was up to my eyebrows in trying to get projects done for WonderFest. Now that the show has come and gone, I'll be back to more regular posting.

Ignatz sent me a PM and he's got my new address, so she'll be heading my way. Depending on when she arrives, I'll do my best to "git 'er done!" and get her to WonderFest in June. If I don't get her finished for this year, then she's not going to make it there with me in 2018. That's a &quo...

Glad she made it there in one piece. Be sure to post some photos. With moving and everything else that was going on in the second half of last year, I never had a chance to do a proper photo shoot session. This was a lot of fun and something I'd be interested in doing again sometime . . . . once I d...

Here are the two photos I have of The Lake Effect on display. Photo 1 Photo 2 I didn't have time to add cockpit detailing, so I ended up putting in clear acetate windows and then putting about six coats of Tamiya Clear Smoke on them, followed by another half-dozen coats of Future to level out the wi...

Not a problem! I just wish I'd had more time to get additional work done on The Lake Effect to "spruce her up" a bit more. It was fun, and presented a few challenges in scratchbuilding a canopy to fit a curved surface. But I enjoyed the experience and would participate again, if we could e...

Finished my entry into the WF contest, and I'm back to working on the Lake Effect. She's in light gray primer outside right now, drying as we speak. I got the cockpit canopy framing cut out earlier and I just glued the last piece in place (front panel, two side panels, one top panel). I've got the h...

If someone else could finish the Bacqatcha that would be great. I'm also working on my own entries for WonderFest, with multiple kits plus a base I have to assemble. I can finish off the Lake Effect, but I won't have time to work on a seventh kit and be able to finish it.

I pretty much use gray sandable acrylic auto primer on my builds. Sometimes, depending on whether I want "pre-shading" underneath, I use black.

What's the best way . . . .

. . . . to straighten out those lovely rubber-band style treads that come with most 1:35 armor kits? I'm building an old Revell Panzer 38(t) and the treads are twisted all over the place. They're all curled and rolled, with nary a straight section to them.

Any recommendations?

Working on fitting the sides of the canopy to the curvature of the hull. Once I get the lower edges where I want them, I'll start working on the top sections, then the front panel. I have to lower the sides to bring them into line with the existing surrounding parts. I'm using the Snowspeeder aft ca...
